SATNET – Sustainable Agriculture Trainers Network
SATNET Asia is a network working in South and Southeast Asia to facilitate spreading of knowledge in the area of sustainable agricultural technologies and practices. Through SATNET a number of institutions share knowledge and participate in capacity-building programs. This knowledge, when transferred to smallholder farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs, contributes to improved food security and reduced poverty. Kudumbam was connected with SATNET through the network PAN AP.
SATNET Intra Regional Visits for Smallholder Value Chain Actors in South Asia
In September 2014 Kudumbam organized a training for the South Asian partners within the SATNET network. Participants came from north India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal and Indonesia. It was a capacity building training in organic agriculture and the participants were both farmers and NGO staff. The training included Farmers Field School in paddy cultivation, preparation of bio inputs for soil fertility and pest control and a visit to a seed production village with a discussion about seed selection and seed treatment.
